Osasuna routs Alaves 3-0 at El Sadar to close out 2025
The Italian coach addressed the media following today's win over Ebro
Osasuna head coach Alessio Lisci spoke at a press conference following his team’s 5–3 Copa del Rey win over Ebro. “Should we have done more and won more comfortably? Yes. But that’s it. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can’t. It doesn’t change the fact that we did what we needed to do. We’ve advanced to the next round, and now the league is coming, which is a different world, and we must be different there,” the coach said.
The Osasuna manager added: “It’s the cup — everything is different. I don’t think it has anything to do with the league. It’s a very different competition, with many changes, and that’s that.” He continued: “We’ve advanced to the next round, and now the league is coming, which is another world. We need to arrive with good feelings. The match didn’t give us many, but in the second half — if we isolate the moments in which we ourselves let them back into the game — we did well. We created chances and kept them under control most of the time.”
Regarding the match, Lisci explained: “Anyone who knows Ebro knows what they do. They’ll put balls into the box, win second balls, and I think we controlled that well. We struggled in the first half with set-piece transitions. We didn’t do well there. Later, we rushed too much, lacked continuity, and the game kept breaking up.” He added: “At halftime we talked, adjusted how to attack the flanks, and it worked. The problem is that we let them back into the game again, and that shouldn’t happen. But we’ve advanced, and now onto what’s next.”
